FAIRFIELD — Defending champion Melissa Voytko will lead 16 remaining players into match play Sunday at the Ohio State USBC’s Ohio Queens at Rollhouse Fairfield.
Voytko, who finished 12 overall Saturday games with 2,696 total pinfall (an average of 224.6), also led the field following the opening six games with 1,388.
The 36-year-old Brunswick left-hander, who also captured her first Professional Women’s Bowling Association regional title last season, will be among the final 16 players participating in double-elimination match play rounds Sunday until five remain for the stepladder finals to determine the champion.
The original 58-player field was cut to the top 29 after the opening six games for an addition six games in the evening round. The cut after the opening six games came at 1,055 (176.8 average).
Following the evening session, an additional cut to the top 16 for Sunday’s match play occurred. Sierra Kanemoto and Madison Ring tied for the final spot at 2,322 (193.5 average), with Kanemoto winning a rolloff to advance.
Voytko was followed by Lindsey Furnas (2,682), Marissa Allison (2,447), Kara Strong (2,440) and Taylor Clark (2,425) in the final qualifying standings.
Multi-time Queens winner Jen Higgins, a former Canton resident, was seventh (2,370) and Massillon’s Ashlee Gonzales-Webb also made the cut (2,360) in 11th place.
Match play begins at 9 a.m.

HDP MLK TOURNAMENT
MACEDONIA — Anthony Lumpkin and Keith Schooler topped open doubles, Schooler and Judy King led mixed doubles and Lumpkin also was high in handicap singles as Hit Dem Pockets announced its final, but unofficial standings, for the 10th annual MLK Classic Tournament held at North Woods Lanes.
Lumpkin topped singles with 781, finishing 16 pins ahead of Romeo Coleman (765), with John Davis taking third (759).
In open doubles, the Lumpkin-Schooler team finished with 1,492, just three pins ahead of Steve Scott and Tyrese Gray (1,489), with Jason Bowles and Anthony Lewis sitting third (1,469).
In mixed doubles, Schooler and King finished with 1,496, 26 pins ahead of Kyle Bacher and Charmaine Allen (1,470), with Kyle Kalinowski and King teaming up for third (1.470).
Results will become official Jan. 28, with other results to be announced. See current results below:
