HEATH — Benjamin Logan and Granville took honors during the Muskingum University Invitational on Saturday at Park Lanes.
The tournament had a field of 31 teams, including 17 boys, with teams bowling three regular games and three Baker System games before the respective fields were cut to the top eight for best-of-three Baker match play by seed on the 2025 OHSAA sectional-district oil pattern.
In the boys division, No. 7 seed Logan defeated top-seeded Reynoldsburg 2-0 in the title match, with games of 203 and 222. Reynoldsburg had advanced with a 2-0 win over Lake, winning 216-180 and 224-171 in the semifinals. Logan wen three games to defeat Jonathan Alder 2-1, winning Game 3 221-193.
Other area teams making the cut were Jackson, which fell to Alder 2-0 in its opening match; and Perry, which fell to Lake 2-1, dropping Game 3 235-180.
Individually, Lake senior Zac Abbott topped the field with a 707 series, including 279 in Game 3. The top five players in each division were accorded all-tournament team honors.
In the girls division, Granville defeated Perry 2-1 to claim the title, taking Game 3 150-136. The Panthers were the No. 1 seed entering match play with 2,933, finishing 333 pins ahead of No. 2 seed Lakewood. Granville was the No. 3 seed.
Other area teams making the cut were Jackson (No. 7) and Lake (No. 8), with the Blue Streaks earning the final spot by 116 pins over Chillicothe.
Jackson fell in three games to Lakewood in its first round match, dropping Game 3 131-125, while Lake was swept by Perry in its opening match.
Individually, Perry’s Arielle Clapper led the girls with a 579 series, while teammate Alex DeVore also made the all-tournament team with a 500.

LIONS BAKER CHALLENGE
COLUMBUS — The Beavercreek boys and Bryan girls topped their respective fields during the second annual Gahanna Lincoln Lions Baker Challenge on Saturday at HP Lanes.
A total of 35 teams, including 20 in the boys division, bowled 16 Baker System games before the respective fields were cut to the top eight for best-of-three Baker match play by seed.
Ashland led qualifying in the boys division with 3,625, followed by Beavercreek (3,4560 and Gahanna Lincoln (3,379).
Beavercreek swept past Ashland 203-194 and 232-195 in the title match.
In the girls division, Bryan was the No. 1 qualifier with 2,919,, followed by Vandalia Butler (2,673) and Wadsworth (2,664).
Bryan went three games to top Vandalia Butler for the title, shooting 217 its final game.
Wadsworth fell in its opening match to Huber Heights Wayne 2-1, losing Game 3 172-156.

OVAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
WOODSFIELD — The Conotton Valley girls and Banesvilel boys captured Division I-#A titles during the 2025 OVAC Championships on Saturday at Ten Pin Lanes.
The format was three regular games followed by four Baker System games, with total pinfall determining the winners.
In the girls division, the rockets finished with 3,057 total infall, with Trinity Christian taking second (2,445) and Union Local finishing third (2,396) in the 12-team field.
Conotton Valley senior Mylie Galigher led the girls field with a 660 series, while junior Lily Booth (522) and Taylor Campbell (473) also finishing among the top five.
In the boys division, Barnesville finished with 3,659, with Monroe Central second (3,285) and Union Local third (3,275). Conotton Valley finished fifth in the 13-team field (3,038).
Rockets freshman Michael Lorello led the boys field with a 637 series, just one pin ahead of Barnesvile juniors Keegan Martin (636) and Colton Hall (636).

WILDCAT BAKER BASH: Nordonia’s girls stopped Fairport Harbor Harding in the finals of the Wildcat Baker Bash on Sunday at Rollhouse Parma. Teams bowled 16 Baker System games before the respective fields were cut to the top eight for best-of-three match play by seed. The event was sponsored by Cleveland St. Ignatius. The event drew 39 total teams. Parma Padua emerged with the boys title. Complete results were not available.
COPLEY TOMAHAWK CLASSIC: Highland’s boys varsity team captured the Tomahawk Invitational on Saturday at AMF Riviera Lanes in Fairlawn, defeating Medina 3-2 in the Baker System best-of-five finals, winning Game 5 204-190. Teams bowled 16 Baker games during qualifying before etc rifled was cut to the top eight for Baker System match play, with the first two rounds being best-of-three and the finals best-of-five. The Hornets led the day by throwing a 300 Baker game during Game 10, their first 300 in school history. Girls and complete results were not available.
