DOVER — River View took a 112-pin lead after the opening team game and led from start to finish in the Division II East District girls high school bowling sectional tournament Wednesday at Boulevard Lanes.

River View, which claimed its second straight sectional title after winning last season at St. Clair Lanes in St. Clairsville, finished with 2,446 total pinfall, 278 pins ahead of second-place Carrollton (2,168).

The top six teams and top six individuals who were not members of those teams advanced to the Division II East District, set for 10 a.m. Feb. 19 at Legacy Lanes in Coshocton.

The format was three regular team games and six Baker System games.

Joining River View and Carrollton at the district will be East Liverpool (2,770), Harrison Central (2,769), Garaway (2,760) and Minerva (2,732), which took the last spot by just 18 pins over Barnesville despite a 103 in the Lions’ final Baker game and shooting just 723 overall in Bakers (120.5 average).

Barnesville made a run by shooting the second-high Baker series with 831. River View posted the high Baker set with 885 (147.5 average).

Senior Bailey Wood led Minerva by shooting a sectional high 550, with 2024 Division II state champion, senior Kaylee Russell of Carrollton, finishing as runner-up with 548.

Conotton Valley sophomore Madelyn Case led the six individual qualifiers, finishing eighth overall with 480.

Other individual qualifiers include Barnesville freshman Trisha Johnson (468), Union Local senior Dayella Erbach (459), Indian Valley sophomore Lilly Tristano (457), Philo junior Abbey Dung (436) and Tuscarawas Central Catholic senior Sabella Murphy (434).

The sectional again was bowled in two shifts, with the top teams and individuals combined from both shifts advancing to district.

Sophomore Morgan Rowe (544), who finished third overall, and juniors Kaylie Bryan (517) and Karley Stocker (486) led River View to the title.

East District Division I teams will not be bowling in sectional play. They will be part of a combined district with the Southeast set for 10 a.m. Feb. 25 at Shawnee Lanes in Chillicothe. Girls teams in that district include Dover, New Philadelphia, Tri-Valley, West Holmes and Janesville. Boys teams include Carrollton, Dover, New Philadelphia, Tri-Valley and Zanesville.
