Perry’s Altimore part of OHSBC’s inaugural Hall of Fame class

BEAVERCREEK — Longtime Perry High School bowling coach Joe Altimore III is among 11 coaches and bowling officials from around the state to be included in the inaugural class of inductees into the Ohio High School Bowling Coaches Hall of Fame.

The first hall of fame enshrinement ceremonies are set for 4 p.m. Aug. 30 at Worthington Hills Country Club in Columbus. Tickets are $60.

Joining Altimore in the inaugural class of inductees are Bob Bobbitt of Beavercreek; OHSBCA president and Centerville coach Greg Coulles; North Olmsted’s Tom Hart; OHSBCA officer and Coldwater coach Rick Hartings; Linus Hartings of the Bowling Centers Association of Ohio; Hillsboro’s Shane Iron; Bellefontaine’s Jane Kline; Andy Parker of Miamisburg and Centerville; Frank Ruggerie of the BCAO; and Urbana’s Kurt Scott.

Altimore has served as coach at Perry for the past 15 seasons, with 13 trips to the state tournament during that time, including the last 10 years in a row. The Panthers finished as state runner-up two years ago.

“Thank you to everyone who has support men me in coach Perry High School bowling,” Altimore said in a Facebook post. “Special thanks to Sharon Kay Liolios for understanding how important this is to me. Couldn’t do it without here.

“Hopefully one day we can get that state title. I’m very proud of all my teams.”

Altimore also is a past enshrinee into the Greater Canton USBC Hall of Fame.
