NORFOLK, Va. – Day 2 of qualifying in the 2026 PBA50 Norfolk Classic featuredJohn Janawicz adding onto his lead.

Despite a lower scoring pace than he had Tuesday, Janawicz still averaged over 240 for seven games Wednesday. He shot 203, 247, 199, 275, 269, 279 and 221 for a 14-game total of 3,512.

“I feel like I bowled pretty well. They hooked a little more today, which kind of surprised me. Usually, it is the other way around,” Janawicz said. “I had to use more angle through the front. In Game 3, (the lanes) transitioned but I figured it out after that.”

After his block, Janawicz took a peek at what equipment was available on the PBA truck to see if anything sparked an idea. He estimates he might need to change the surfaces a little bit on a few balls, so he is prepared to come out strong on the fresh 38-foot oil pattern on Thursday.

“I want to make sure that I am fine-tuned for the rest of the way,” Janawicz said.

Parker Bohn III moved up to second place Wednesday. He has yet to have a game under 200 with 3,346 overall, yet he is 166 pins behind Janawicz. PBA50 Tour points leader Tom Hess rolled perfect games during both qualifying rounds. He and Andres Gomez are tied with 3,311. Gomez averaged 25 including a 299,  to earn the highest block of the day with 1,757. Jon Rakoski rounds out the top five with 3,290.

Ricky Schissler was the cut number at 3,139 (+339) in 26th place. Also making the cut were Akron’s Don Hogue (19th, 3,169) and Fairport Harbor’s Jerry Rich (10th, 3,202). Hudson’s John Brockway missed the cut by just seven pins with 3,132.

The top 26 bowled the four-games Advancers Round at 9 a.m. Thursday. The top 24 will move into bracket match play best-of-three matches beginning with Qualifiers 9 through 24 starting at 12:30 p.m.
