Teen Masters: Leiendecker, Yoder advance to match play

ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Wooster area junior players Abbie Leiendecker and Emma Yoder advanced to match play among the top 12 in the girls division during Day 4 of the 25th annual Teen Masters.

Leiendecker, who shot Day 3’s highest six-game block, shot 1,257, a 209.5 average, to increase her total pinfall to 4,817 (200.71 overall average) at Thunderbowl Arena to sit third. 

Hope Bunk of Billings, Mont., leads the division with 4,832, an average of 201.33, after shooting 1,243 on Thursday, just 10 pins ahead of Keokuk, Iowa, player Rachel Moore.

Yoder finished with 1,220 Thursday to move up two spots in the standings to seventh with 4,633 (193.04 average). The left-hander had a high game of 254 after starting the day with 158.

The top 12 finishers after Day 4 return at noon Friday for their first six games of match play. The second six-game match-play round begins at 6 p.m.

In the boys division, Nathan Smith maintained his lead with 5,232, an average of 218.00, after shooting 1,284 Thursday. He holds a 35-pin lead over Bettsville’s Hayden Tarris, who shot 1,403 Thursday (233.83 average) to move up the standings.

Champions in each division will be determined by total pinfall, with 30 bonus pins awarded for match-play victories during the 12 games.
