Bowling briefs: Fund-raiser, pros in town and College Bowl events continue

LOUISVILLE SETS WARNER FUND-RAISER

CANTON — The Tom Warner Memorial Scholarship Fund is holding a benefit bowl from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 25th at Eastbury Bowling Center.

The scholarship fund was established in memory of former Louisville High School bowler and first-team All-Stark County Conference bowler Tom Warner, who was killed in a one-car auto accident prior to the start of his senior year.

The scholarship is awarded to a Stark County high school senior who plans to continue their education and bowling career in college. The vet will include 50-50 raffle, bake sale and basket raffles.

Cost is $20 per person for two hours of cosmic bowling.

PROS WILL BE A TRIWAY ON SATURDAY, SUNDAY

WOOSTER  — The PBA50 J.D. Producing Inc-Triway Lanes Central Open is set for Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 10-11) at Triway Lanes. 

The current 34-player field will bowl eight qualifying games beginning at noon Saturday before the field is cut to the top eight for match play on Sunday, beginning at 10 a.m.

Area players in the field include Matt Coffelt, Jim Dilyar, Steve Easterday, Don Hogue, Tony Johnson, Tony Varn and Terry Ware. The tournament will be contested on the PBA Pegtralia 46 oil pattern, with first place being worth a projected $1,500.

PARK CENTRE SETS PRO-AM EVENT

NORTH CANTON — The Smith-Behra Memorial Pro-Am, in connection with the PBA50-PBA60 Doubles-Park Centre Lanes Central Open, is best for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at Park Centre.

Entry fee is $25, with bowlers rolling three 9-pin, no-tap games with three different PBA pros. This is a handicap event, with divisions for youth, high school/college, adult, seniors (over 50) and Special Olympians.

COLLEGE BOWL TOURNEYS RETURH

NORTH CANTON — College Bowl Tournaments will hold its first event of the season at 10 a.m. Sept. 17 at Park Centre Lanes.

This will be a scratch singles event with a $65 entry fee. Bowlers will roll four qualifying games before the field is cut to the top eight for single-game elimination matches bye seed until two bowl for the win.

First place will pay $500 based on 40 entries, with one out of 3.5 cashing.

Jackpots, brackets and eliminator will be available.
