PBA Central Region: Graham wins Galion PBA50 tourney

GALION — Top qualifier Eddie Graham compiled an 8-4 match-play record, averaging 223.5 over 20 games, to claim the title during the PBA50 Sherry Bodkins Memorial Central Open on Sunday at Victory Lanes.

Graham, a 57-year-old Kettering right-hander, was the qualifying leader with 1,779 total pinfall, an average of 222.38. He finished 12 pins ahead of Akron right-hander Don Hogue.

Following the 12-game match-play round, Graham completed play with 4,711 total pinfall, finishing 68 pins ahead of second-place Mark Sullivan (4,643) with Tom Adcock finishing third (4,588).

Hogue went 5-7 during match play and finished ninth with 4,322.

Fourth-place finisher George Szczubiewski had the lone 300 game of the event in match play, when he topped Patric Donaghue in Game 10.

Donaghue was the cut number for the top 12 in the 55-player field with 1,681, just three pins ahead of Mitch Beasley.

The final cash spot in 18th place went to Marty Berke with 1,643, while super seniors Ron Profit and Mike Moore earned cash spots in 19th and 20th, respectively, with 1,631.

Also among the cashers was Wadsworth super senior Dale Csuhta with 1,646, good for 17th place.
