NORTH CANTON — Park Centre Lanes will host the PBA50-PBA60 Park Centre Lanes Central Region Doubles on Saturday and Sunday.
A field of 26 teams is scheduled to compete, beginning with Saturday’s eight-game qualifying round at 10 a.m.. The top eight teams will then return for Sunday’s round-robin match-play round at 9 a.m.
Players scheduled to participate include Brad Angelo, Dale Cshuhta, Steve Easterday, Ray Edwards, Tim Elsass, Bud Ferrell, Bo Gergen, Eddie Graham, Michael Haggitt, Don Hogue, Dave Johnson, Brian Kretzer, PBA50 Player of the Year Troy Lint, Chris Osborne, Jim Pencak, John Shreve Jr., Sammy Ventura and Jeff Zaffino.
Admission is free to fans.
The event will kickoff with a the Fred Smith-Dick Behra Pro Am, set for 6:30 p.m. Friday. Entry fee is $25, with players having the opportunity to bowl three nine-pin no-tap games with the pros. Walk-ins will be accepted with door prizes and drawings available.

COLLEGE BOWL TOURNAMENTS: The first College Bowl Tournaments event of the season is a singles event set for 10 a.m. Sept. 23 at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes in Canton. Entry fee is $65, with bowlers rolling four qualifying games before the field is cut to the top eight for single-game match play, based on entries. Tournaments are bowled on house oil conditions. HIT DEM POCKETS: Hit Dem Pockets will hold its second handicap eliminator doubles event of the season at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at North Woods Lanes in Macedonia. During the Week1 event, Frank Testa and Ryan Liederbach combined to take first place, with Ryan Ashby and Ty McKinney finishing second.
TRIWAY SWEEPER: Bobby Wenger finished with 1,001 total pinfall for four games to win the recent “Try Not To Suck” Sweeper at Triway Lanes in Wooster. The remainder of the top four included Derek Duncan 922, Wash Haney 879 and Tim Voytko 870. The next sweeper is set for 5 p.m. Oct. 1 with a $50 entry fee.
DOUBLES SCRATCH SWEEPER: Spins Bowl Akron will hold its monthly doubles scratch sweeper at 6 p.m. Sept. 24. The event is four games before the cut to the top four for the stepladder finals on the house oil pattern. For details, contact Frank Dallas on Facebook.
TRIPLE T TOURNAMENTS: What’s Sleep? II tourney is set for 11 p.m. Sept. 30 at Bowlero Lanes of Toledo. This is a scratch doubles event, with eight qualifying games, with the field being cut for Baker System match play based on the number of entries. OHIO MATCHPLAY TOURNAMENTS: A 50-and-older Legacy Lanes Challenge Singles event is set for 11 a.m. Sept. 24 at Legacy Lanes in Coshocton. Entry fee is $110, with bowlers rolling five qualifying games on the OMT40 pattern. See Ohio Matchplay Tournaments page on Facebook for information.
HBT HILES TOURNAMENTS: The third annual Baker Team Championships is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 23 at AMF Mount Lebanon Lanes in Pittsburgh. Entry fee is $600 with teams bowling 35 Baker System games with bonus pins for wins. The top five make the stepladder finals based on a 36-team field.
