NEW PHILADELPHIA — Dover High School’s boys and Minerva’s girls took honors during the seventh annual Dover Invitational on Saturday at Wabash Lanes.
The Tornadoes stopped River View in the best-of-five Baker System title match 3-1 to claim the title.
Dover was the qualifying leader, finishing with 3,873 total pinfall to finish 142 pins ahead of River View. Caleb German led the Tornadoes with a 638 series and Jacob Shanklin added 616 with Bryce Beckley shooting 570.
In the girls division, Minerva claimed the title for the second straight season, stopping River View 3-2 in the title match after defeating Dover 3-0 during the semifinals. The Lions were the qualifying leaders with 3,601, finishing 323 pins ahead of River View.
The Lions posted five of the top seven individual series, led by Isabelle Genet’s 570. Other Lions’ series included Shelby Worrell 565, Kayla Henderhan 550, Anna Leach 537 and Jadynn Thompson 523.
River View’s Joni Winland (677) and Claymont’s Rylie Milburn (725) took individual honors in the event.

OHIIO DIVISION II KICKOFF
COLUMBUS — Coldwater’s boys and Mechanicsburg’s girls took honors during the 20th annual Ohio State Invitational Division II Kickoff tournament Saturday at HP Lanes.
Coldwater, the tournament qualifying leaders with 3,472, topped No. 7 seed East Knox 628-540 in the three-game cumulative Baker System final.
Teams bowled three regular team games and two Baker System games during qualifying before the respective fields were cut to the top 16 for Baker System match play by seed.
Carrollton (2,820), Rootstown (2,955), Coventry (2,983) and Ravenna (2,769) made the cut in the 26-team boys field. The Comets made it to the second round of match play before falling to Napoleon.
East Canton’s girls finished 14th overall after qualifying (2,417), with Napoleon being the top seed with 2,977. Carrollton was ninth with 2,544, and Rootstown was eighth (2,555). The Hornets and Warriors suffered first-round losses in match play, with East Canton losing to eventual champion Mechanicsburg. Rootstown advanced to the second round before falling to Napoleon in the quarterfinals.
St. Marys Memorial’s Kayla Homan was the top girls individual with 634. Carrollton’s Zoey Elliott made the all-tournament team with 554.
In the boys division, Coldwater’s Caleb Wendell and Drew Eying went 1-2 individually with 715 and 712, respectively. Rootstown’s Justin Miller made the all-tournament team with 639.

RAVENNA VARSITY TOURNAMENT
KENT — Twinsburg’s boys and Nordonia’s girls captured titles during the Ravenna Ravens Varsity Tournament recently at Spins Bowl-Kent.
Twinsburg stopped Cuyahoga Falls 2-1 in the three-game Baker System finals match. The winners topped Norton also 2-1 in the semifinals while the Black Tigers defeated Rootstown 2-0.
Twinsburg was the qualifying leader with 3,937 total pinfall, 33 pins ahead of Cuyahoga Falls.
Fairport Harbor Harding’s Eddie Krofcheck led the individual boys with 692.
In the girls division, Nordonia topped Rootstown 2-1 in the title match. The Knights and Rovers swept by Fairport Harbor and Struthers, respectively, during the semifinal round.
Struthers was the girls qualifying leader with 3,542, eight pins ahead of Nordonia.
Fairport’s Jullian Justinger was the individual girls champion with 753, 94 pins ahead of second place Kaitlyn McNutt of Nordonia (659).
