CANTON — The Stark County High School Bowling Conference is honoring its top student-athletes for academic excellence for the first time during the 2023-24 season.
Students were honored in three categories: President’s list (grade-point average of 4.0 ore higher); Gold (GPA of 3.75 to 3.99); Silver (GPA of 3.5 to 3.74); and Bronze (GPA of 3.25 to 3.49).
Only schools wishing to participate in the academic program were included in the lists.
The SCHSBC’s annual conference banquet is set for 1 p.m. April 7 at Raintree Country club and Banquet Center in Uniontown when all-conference teams, players and coaches of the year and the SCHSBC’s 2024 Hall of Fame class will be honored.

EBC HONORS CONFERENCE TEAM
The Eastern Buckeye Conference recently honored its all-conference bowling teams for the 2023-24 season.
In the boys division, Carrollton’s Bryce Taylor was named as bowler of the year with Warriors head coach Dave Davis earning coach of the year honors.
In the girls division, Minerva swept honors with Jadynn Thompson being named bowler of the year and coach Dana Keister earning coaching honors.

JTBA: AREA TOURNAMENTS SET APRIL 6-7
The Junior Tournament Bowlers Association will be holding a pair of tournaments in Wayne and Stark counties on April 6 and 7.
The JTBA Baker Challenge is set for 11 a.m. April 6 at Wayne Lanes in Wooster and is open to five-person teams. Teams must have no more than three bowlers from an age division (18U, 15U, 12U) and can be mixed gender. Entry fee is $180 per team, with teams bowling 12 Baker System games before the field is cut to the top eight teams for single-elimination, two-game match play by seed.
The JTBA Doubles Tournament is set for 9 a.m. April 7 at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes in Canton, with the three age divisions available.
Entry fee is $150 per team for JTBA members; $160 for one member and one nonmember; and $170 for two nonmembers.
Bowlers will bowl five qualifying games before the field is cut to the top eight or 16 teams for two-game, Baker System elimination match play.

USBC YOUTH TOURNAMENT IN CANTON
NORTH CANTON — The Ohio State USBC Youth Championships are being held at Park Centre Lanes in North Canton.
Tournament dates are April 13, 14, 20 and 21, with a $30 entry fee per event, with a $5 optional all-events fee.
Scholarships will be awarded. This is a handicapped event, with with handicap based on 90 percent of a 225 average. Competition will be in four divisions.
