H.S. bowling: Wadsworth, Fairport earn Ravenna wins; Eagle Challenge held in Parma

KENT — Wadsworth and Fairport Harbor Harding came away with titles during Saturday’s Ravenna Raven Invitational high school bowling tournament at Spins Bowl-Kent

The field included 15 boys and 13 girls teams, with the qualifying format being three regular games and five Baker System games before cutting to the top four teams in each division for best-of-three Baker System match play by seed.

In the boys division, Wadsworth topped qualifying with 3,965, with Medina Highland taking second (3,796), followed by Kent Roosevelt (3,786) and Ravenna (3,756).

The Grizzlies (244-234) swept past Ravenna in their opening match, and then topped Highland (244-126, 179-145) to claim the title. Highland swept past Kent Roosevelt in its opening match.

Nate Weyand led the Grizzlies during qualifying with 60, while Cayden Sponsor had 598 and Hayden Eagon-Mohlmaster added 595.

Rootstown’s Justin Miller turned in the high individual score of the day with 762, while Green’s Anthony Bordonaro shot 741. Other top scores came from Kent’s Braden Latacki (682), Highland’s Thomas Nhok (679), Fairport Harding’s Eddie Krofcheck (677) and Tallmadge’s Nathan Bishop (649).

In the girls division, the Skippers finished with 3,695 to lead qualifying, followed by Rootstown (3,365), Norton (3,136) and Wadsworth (3,038).

Fairport went three games to stop Norton in the title match after sweeping past Wadsworth in the best-of-three Baker semifinal match. Norton stopped Ravenna in the semifinals.

Fairpost ;posted the top three individual scores during qualifying, led by Jillian Justinger’s 626. Sophia McLaughlin (590) and MacKenzie Pilny (568) also helped lead the Skippers. Roostown’s Cassie Egli also had 549 and Norton’s Madelyn Mullet added 542.

EAGLE CHALLENGE

PARMA — Olmsted Falls and North Olmsted emerged with titles during the North Olmsted Eagle Challenge on Saturday at Rollhouse Parma.

The all-Baker System event drew 13 boys and 12 girls teams, will all teams rolling 16 Baker games in four blocks to determine the winners.

In the boys division, Olmsted Falls finished with 3,524 total pinfall to claim the title, followed by North Ridgeville (3,250) and Twinsburg (3,245).

In the girls division, North Olmsted took honors with 2,687, followed by Struthers (2,594) and North Ridgeville (2,434).
