H.S. report: Stark conference players of week, statistics; tourney updates; match results from Jan. 17-21

The Stark County High School Bowling Conference announced its players of the week for Week 6 of the 2024-25 high school bowling season.

The honorees were GlenOak’s Anthony Vacanti, Marlington’s Cora Wines and North Canton Hoover’s Carys Eynon.

BOYS

ANTHONY VACANTI

Vacanti, a senior for the Eagles, had a season-high game of 290 with a 494 series. He also shot 486 in another recent match with 246 and 240. Here is background on Vacanti:

CORA WINES

A senior for the Dukes and team captain, Wines rolled a 381 series against United with a 153 average and followed it up with a 192 game against Lake Center. She has improved her average each year over here three-year career.. Here is background on Wines:

TOURNAMENT REPORT

ROOTSTOWN SECTIONAL PREVIEW: Lutheran West finished with 4,255 total pinfall to capture the boys division of Sunday’s 19th annual Rootstown Rover Division II Sectional Preview at Spins Bowl Kent in Kent. Rootstown finished second with 3,934, followed by East Canton with 3,877. Lutheran West’s Zach Smeal turned in the high series with 771, followed by Rootstown’s Justin Miller with 712 and East Canton’s Dylan Lint with 710. In the girls division, Rootstown took the title with 3,228, followed by East Canton (3,170) and Woodridge (3,824). East Canton’s Madison Lint turned in the high girls series with 603, followed by Rootstown’s Emma Day with 602 and East Canton’s Logan McDonald with 504. The tournament format was three regular games followed by six Baker System games. Results for both the Division I, which was Saturday, and the Division II events are below:
