A pair of bowlers participating out of Lewis Center continue to lead the scratch all-events category through six weekends during the Ohio State USBC Open Championships, being conducted at AMF Riviera Lanes in Fairlawn and Station 300 in Akron.
Cassidy Schaub holds the overall lead with 2,096, followed by Dan Higgins with 2,037. The tournament runs weekend through May 4.

WOMEN’S STATE
The Ohio State USBC Women’s Championships begins its second weekend Saturday at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes (doubles and singles) and Eastbury Bowling Center (Canton).
Competition will continue weekends through April 13.
Micki Sumner of Dayton rolled the first 300 game of the event during team competition at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes.

HDP HOLDS DOUBLES A Hit Dem Pockets Sunday Handicap Doubles is set for 5 p.m. April 6 at North Woods Lanes in Macedonia. Entry fee is $120 per team, with handicap being 80 percent of 210. Teams each bowl five games with total pinfall determining final placers. In addition, the top team in each game will roll a sixth game for an additional pot. COLLEGE BOWL TOURNAMENTS: The final regular-season College Bowl Tournament Series event will be a regular doubles at 10 a.m. April 19 at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes. This is a change from the original schedule due to the Ohio USBC Women’s State Tournament. Entry fee is $130 per team, with teams bowling four qualifying games before the field is cut to the top eight for single-game elimination match play. LEGACY LANES: The fourth annual Mixed Doubles event is set for March 29, April 5 and 12 at Legacy Lanes and Lounge in Coshocton. Entry fee is $60 per team, with Saturday shifts at 3 p.m. and Sunday shifts at 12:30 p.m.

BOULEVARD LANES: The Larry Stein Memorial Shootout is set for 10 a.m. April 7 at Boulevard Lanes in Dover. This is a scratch event with a $60 entry fee. The tournament is open to the first 64 paid bowlers. This is a match-play event, with bowlers rolling three games and winners advancing. The final six will be in a stepladder finals. PROFESSIONAL BOWLERS ASSOCIATION
Indianapolis left-hander Jean Perez, the No. 4 seed, stopped Cincinnati’s Richard McCormick 258-247 in the title match to capture the PBA Lucky Strike-Evansville Central-Midwest Open at AMF Arc Lanes in Evansville, Ind. This was a one-day event.
Players rolled eight qualifying games before the field was cut to the top 16 for elimination match play by seed. The first two rounds were best-of-three, while the final two rounds were single elimination.
Drew Klinger, who lost to Perez in the semifinals, was the top seed with 1,945 (243.13 average), followed by Robert Oakleaf (1,794). Roy Wisdom earned the final cut spot at 16 with 1,692. Brett Miller earned the final cash spot at 24th with 1,640.
It marked Perez’s fourth regional title.
PBA QUALIFIER: Rebman Recreation in Lorain will be holding its 18th annual PBA-PBA50 Ohio Lottery Qualifier at 2 p.m. April 12. Entry fee is $80 prepaid or $90 after April 9.
Bowlers will roll five games on the PBA Don Johnson 2025 oil pattern to earn spots in the PBA Ohio Lotter-Baldo Campana and Dave D’Entremont Memorial Central Open on May 17 (a one-day event) or the PBA50 Central Region event July 28-30. At one-in-five events will receive a tournament entry into the regionals.

CENTRAL REGION: Clutch Lanes in Cuyahoga Falls will host its annual PBA-PBA50 Doubles-Clutch Lanes Central Open on April 11 through 13, just prior to TOC week in Fairlawn. A practice session and youth clinic are set for April 11, with two eight-game qualifying rounds set for 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. April 12. The field will then be cut to the top 12 teams (based on a field of 36 teams or more). Those 1 teams will return Sunday for Baker System match-play rounds beginning at 8 a.m. until a champion is determined. Admission is free. Among PBA players registered to participate are Tom Adcock, Chris Barnes, Dom Barrett, Dina Castillo, Tom Daugherty, Patrick Dombrowski, Graham Fach, Michael Haggitt, Tom Hess, Don Hogue, Eugene McCune, Kevin McCune and Anthony Simonsen. PBA TOUR: The PBA Tournament of Champions will be held the week of April 14 through April 20 at AMF Riviera Lanes in Fairlawn.
The pro-am is set for 6 p.m. April 14 with options ranging from $89 to $209 depending on the package. A high school clinic also will be held at 5 p.m. April 13.
