ARLINGTON, Texas – While the Cleveland area does not have a stop on the 2027 Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tour for the first time in five years, the 2027 Regional Tour will make a stop in Akron for the first time since being restarted in 2015.
The 10-event regional season kicks off with the Fort Meade Regional at The Lanes Fort Meade in Fort Meade, Md, on Jan. 31, and concludes with the Regional Showdown at Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando, Fla., from Dec. 2-4.
The Regional Tour also make stops in Texas, Pennsylvania, Indiana, New Jersey, New York, Wisconsin and South Carolina in addition to Ohio with seven first-time hosts for regional events.
Joining the regional lineup will be the PWBA Rubber City Regional, set for Oct. 3 at Station 300 Akron in Akron, the site of this week’s Akron Open.
Returning host centers in 2027 include Steel City Bowl & Brews and Myrtle Beach Bowl, both mainstays on the regional schedule since 2024, along with Boardwalk Bowl, which hosted earlier this year.Other centers welcoming the PWBA for the first time are The Lanes Fort Meade, Lucky Strike Euless, Mike Aulby’s Arrowhead Bowl, Howell Lanes, Rab’s Country Lanes and Revs Bowl.
Each regional champion will be automatically seeded into match play at the Regional Showdown, while the remainder of the 18-person field will be filled after an eight-game qualifying round that will be open to all PWBA Regional-eligible bowlers.
Those 18 players will compete in round-robin match play before cutting to the top four bowlers for the stepladder finals.
All bowlers who qualify for match play will cash at the Regional Showdown, with additional cash spots outside the top 18 paid at a 1:3 ratio if the number of entries is high enough, similar to PWBA National Tour prize funds.
The winner of the 2027 Regional Showdown will receive not only a cash prize and trophy, but she will also have her entry fees covered for all 2028 PWBA National Tour singles events.
Female competitors must average at least 180 to be eligible to enter a PWBA Regional event while PWBA Tour national champions will not be eligible to compete in any PWBA Regional event if they have won a national title in the last 15 years.
These one-day tournaments feature eight games of qualifying followed by a cut to the top four for the stepladder finals. This format, combined with the reduced entry fees, allows players to keep costs down by making it possible to compete without having to stay in the host city for multiple days and incur lodging and other travel expenses.
The 2026 regional schedule resumes this weekend in Wichita, Kan., and has six stops remaining before the Regional Showdown, set for Dec. 3-5 in Orlando, Fla.
The Cleveland area, which hosted PWBA Tour Championship Week, has an upcoming regional set for Oct. 24 at Rebman Recreation in Lorain. The final regional is set for Nov. 22 at AMF Mt. Lebanon Lanes in Pittsburgh.
