The Mercyhurst men and Muskingum women took honors during the DO Apparel/Brunswick Open in Columbus recently.
Mercyhurst and Muskingum battled throughout the two-day event in the men’s division, as the Lakers held on by 21 pins to record the victory. On the women’s side, the Fighting Muskies cruised to the win by more than 300 pins.

BRUNSWICK MIDWEST COLLEGIATE
The Lawrence Tech men and Milligan women set the stage for a strong season over the weekend in Michigan, recording victories at the 55th Brunswick Midwest Collegiate Championships.
The event – serving as the first Tier I of the 2026-2027 United States Bowling Congress Collegiate season – was contested at Imperial Lanes in Clinton Township (men’s field) and 5 Star Lanes in Sterling Heights (women’s field). The men’s varsity division featured 45 teams, while 35 varsity squads competed on the women’s side.
The format featured five traditional games and 16 Baker games for qualifying. The top eight teams in each division advanced to a single-elimination bracket to determine the champion. Each of the three rounds of bracket play featured a best-of-three Baker format.
In the men’s division, Savannah College of Art and Design-Savannah placed itself at the top of the standings after qualifying with a total of 8,647. Wisconsin-Whitewater was second with 8,522, and Aquinas qualified third with 8,417.
Lawrence Tech secured the final spot in the bracket by qualifying in eighth with 8,090, just 12 pins ahead of Marian-Indiana (8,078).
With a fresh start heading into the bracket, Lawrence Tech quickly went to work in the head-to-head matches. The Blue Devils swept SCAD-Savannah and Indiana Tech to advance to the title match against St. Ambrose – the winner of the 2025 Midwest Collegiate Championships and 2026 Intercollegiate Team Championships.
The Fighting Bees advanced with 2-0 victories over Aquinas and Belmont Abbey.
Lawrence Tech maintained its perfect record in the championship round, sweeping St. Ambrose (227-191, 234-161) to earn the Tier I title.
The men’s all-tournament team was led by Aquinas’ Kyle Pranger, who posted a five-game score of 1,160 (232 average). Trevor Anifer of St. Francis-Illinois was next in the standings with 1,140, while Lawrence Tech’s Kai Strothers (1,124), Aquinas’ Tony DeLuccia (1,119) and Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Dawson Peterson (1,117) also placed in the top five.
Saint Vincent led qualifying in the women’s division, posting a 7,957 total to earn the top seed for the bracket. SCAD-Savannah – the 2025 Midwest Collegiate Championships winner – was second with 7,916, while Lawrence Tech placed third with 7,791.
Milligan qualified fifth with 7,565, and Goshen was the final team to advance, finishing with 7,370.
Milligan went undefeated through the first two rounds of the bracket, sweeping Trine and Saint Vincent to advance to the finals. The title tilt featured the Buffaloes taking on Lawrence Tech.
The Blue Devils defeated Indiana Tech (2-1) and Marian-Indiana (2-0) to secure a spot in the final round.
Lawrence Tech claimed Game 1 in the championship with a 265-179 victory, but the momentum shifted in favor of Milligan during the next two games. The Buffaloes tied the match with a 176-145 win in Game 2 and claimed the Tier I title in the deciding game, 204-175.
Goshen’s Rebekah Muzyk earned top honors in the women’s individual standings, recording a five-game total of 1,108 (221.6 average). Muzyk was joined on the all-tournament team by Midland’s Bailee Spriggs (1,076), SCAD-Savannah’s Ivanna Villalobos (1,061), Lawrence Tech’s Samantha Czerw (1,046) and Saint Vincent’s Skyy Nicholls (1,042).
HAMMER GOLDEN EAGLE INVIT
The Judson women and Mount Mercy men navigated the Baker bracket at the Hammer Golden Eagle Invite over the weekend to collect their first wins.
Split between centers in Loves Park, Ill. (women), and Rockford, Ill. (men), the 2026 event featured five traditional games and 16 Baker games for qualifying to determine the teams advancing to the bracket. The top four teams in the women’s division (14 varsity teams overall in the field) and top eight in the men’s division (25 varsity teams) punched their tickets to the next round.
All rounds leading up to the title tilt featured a best-of-three Baker format. The championship match was extended to a best-of-five contest.
After qualifying, Mount Mercy paced the women’s field (8,101 total) to earn the top seed for the bracket. Judson was second with 7,722, St. Ambrose placed third with 7,621 and Coe took the final spot with 7,589.
Judson posted a 2-1 victory over St. Ambrose to advance to the finals, while Coe delivered a 2-1 win over Mount Mercy to set the final round.
The first two games of the championship went to Judson (215-183, 212-206), before Coe collected Game 3, 201-188. Judson secured the tournament victory in Game 4, rolling to a 212-180 win to close the set, 3-1. The Eagles ascended to the title in 2026 after finishing as the runner-up in the bracket at the 2025 event.
Culver-Stockton’s Rachel Moore fired 233 in her final game of the traditional block to earn top honors in the women’s individual standings, finishing with a 1,080 total (216 average).
St. Ambrose’s Molly Bramble (1,065), Judson’s Liljana Mihalovich-Finnen (1,053), Mount Mercy’s Kyndallynn Hood (1,039) and Saint Xavier’s Jade Gabor (1,020) joined Moore on the all-tournament team.
St. Ambrose led qualifying on the men’s side, posting 8,418. Calumet (8,305) and Mount Mercy (8,193) were next in the standings. Saint Xavier claimed the final spot in the bracket by 12 pins over Judson, finishing eighth with 7,767.
After two rounds, Mount Mercy and Rock Valley – the No. 5 seed – remained as the only undefeated teams. Mount Mercy dispatched of No. 6 Spoon River (2-1) and Calumet (2-1) on its way to the finals, while Rock Valley recorded wins over No. 4 Wisconsin-Whitewater (2-0) and Saint Xavier (2-1) to advance to the championship match.
Rock Valley dominated in Game 1 (220-147), but Mount Mercy settled in to take the next three games and the title, 3-1. The Mustangs – the runner-up at last season’s Intercollegiate Team Championships – put together wins of 198-171, 199-190 and 182-178 in Games 2, 3 and 4, respectively.
In the men’s individual standings, Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Levi Gabrielse averaged 240 for his five games to record the victory with a 1,200 total in Rockford.
Jacob Bockstie of Mount Mercy finished as the runner-up with 1,155, while Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Nate VanderBeek (1,098), Calumet’s Nathaniel Trentler (1,077) and St. Ambrose’s Lucas Hersrud (1,076) also placed in the top five.
OTHER COLLEGIATE ACTION
* At the Mercyhurst Invite in Erie, Pa., the Niagara women claimed the bracket win for the second consecutive year. The Purple Eagles outlasted Duquesne in the best-of-seven final, winning the deciding game, 192-179, to record the 4-3 victory.
* At the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Conference (SWIBC) I in Garland, Texas, the Texas-San Antonio men and Tulane women earned the top spot with bracket wins. The Roadrunners defeated Newman in the men’s title match, while the Green Wave claimed the victory against Louisiana Tech in the women’s championship round.
* The SWIBC II also took place in Garland, Texas. Featuring six traditional games to determine the winner, the Louisiana Tech women and Newman men rolled to victory by 130 pins and 328 pins, respectively.
* At the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Jackson Open in Jackson, Mich., the Spring Arbor women and men shared the victory with a sweep for the Cougars. The women’s squad earned the win by nearly 140 pins, as the men’s team stayed ahead of Indiana Wesleyan and Lawrence Tech by 13 and 23 pins, respectively. Indiana Wesleyan’s Camden Malott rolled a perfect game to start the event’s traditional block and earned the individual victory in the men’s division with a three-game series of 740.
