HIGH SCHOOL REPORT: Hoover boys claim title at G-Men Classic

GARRETTSVILLE — The Hoover High School boys bowling team took first and the Vikings girls were second during Saturday’s G-Men Classic bowling tournament at SkyLane Bowling.

The Vikings boys, who led qualifying with 4,071 total pinfall, earned their second tourney title of the season. They were led by Chase Wenzel, whose 751 series led the tournament field en route to all-tournament team honors. Nate DeSantis also shot 662 and Austin Crowe added 603.

The event drew a field of 16 teams. No other details were available.

In the girls division, top-seeded Boardman claimed the title by stopping Hoover in the best-of-three Baker System finale 146-99 and 171-137.

Boardman’s Kaitlyn Greenaway led the tournament with a 613.

Teams bowled three regular games and five Baker System games before the divisions were cut to the top four for best-of-three Baker matches to determine the champions.
